The mother and child are models
We have produced more than 300 short children’s adoption profile videos for local authorities and agencies such as Durham County Council, Bradford City Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, North East Lincolnshire Council, North Lincolnshire Council, City of Lincoln Council, Adoption Matters and Caritas Care.
Profile videos are being used more and more to help find families for children in care. Seeing the child in their normal surroundings, playing and interacting with their current carers, really brings them to life. The foster carer also speaks about the child on the film, describing their individual character and development, a valuable insight for prospective families.
We use music sound-tracks to reflect the personality of the children and interview the foster carer to use as the voice over for the video – this way we get a carer’s close and loving insight and personal perspective of the children we are filming.
We spend about an hour and a half to two hours with each child. We try to make our time with each child and carer as unobtrusive as possible. We are very aware and sensitive to the impact of our being there and work hard to put everybody at ease, especially the children.
The carer will have been prepared as much as possible beforehand about the best way to make the most of our time with them. But we always take the time to run through everything before we do any interviews or filming.
These videos are particulary useful for children who are hard to place and can be used at family recruitment events, adoption exchange days and uploaded to online services such as Link Maker and Children Who Wait.
The videos we produced for Durham were singled out in their Offsted inspection and highly praised by the inspection team.
“Your videos played a significant part in majority of the children we placed last year”
“You can look beyond the problems and see the real child”
“Her new parents said they watched the video 1000 times”
“Video clips helped significantly increase the number of enquiries the children received.”
We would like this service to be widely available so that more children can improve their chances of finding a permanent family. To this end we have priced our videos very competitively so they are affordable for all local authorities.
Prices can vary as we are often asked to film more than just one child or sibling group. In these instances we can put together a ‘package cost’ based on the number of children you want us to film, and whether children are being placed together or separately.
